I got home last night from work and was in one of those whiny "I want something and don't know what I want and even if I knew what it is I want we don't have it in the house anyways" kind of moods. So, I pulled out some shrimp, peppers, pasta and artichokes. I was going to make Shrimp Fra Diavalo, but when I went for diced tomatoes all we had was tomato sauce. And I was bummed because I don't like it made with sauce. I prefer diced. I whined at Ted while I started to chop some onion. Ted, being Ted, did what he does and started to help and the next thing I knew I was just standing there because he had completely taken over.
This totally did not suck. |
My only complaint is that we couldn't use GrowDammit artichokes. We have plants, but they never flourished. I think our growing season was just too rainy and wet for a lot of things.
Next...A GrowDammit 2011 retrospective b/c we'll probably be harvesting and pulling up whatever is left. I think the season is pretty much over. THAT totally sucks.
Cooking food..... It's all a matter of chemistry. In my opinion... You just can't throw a bunch of shit into the pan and hope for a miracle, it's a process. You can either have acids or bases... Your base will cancel out the acid. On top of everything else... You hafta know what goes together... each individual ingredient. I learned my trade from a French Master Chef and not to sit here and toot my own horn... (There's NOTHING that I can't cook.) Want some sausages?? I can make those...A wedding cake???? I can make one. Bake some crazy ass bread? No problem. It kills me to see someone else in the kitchen doing the work... I want to jump in and get balls deep in it. My #1 Ace has to be my Boy Ken. We'd sit for HOURS just sitting around coming up with new stuff to sell.... We worked at this Gourmet Sandwich shop and lemme tell you WHAT! Some of the stuff that we came out with was just crazy. We'd charge 13 bucks for a sandwich and get it ALL DAY LONG. The shop was in the "Artsy" part of Charleston and we had well known artists wanting to trade art for free meals! (Pretty cool.) Anyways.... Ken and I have been talking about teaming back up and making a comeback at the 2012 Bonnaroo Festival. Yeah.... If it all pans out... This should be BIG... Stay tuned.
ReplyDeleteSo it looks like the poll is dead even... I've never seen this before... I'm REALLY wanting to see Chives give Rosemary the beat down.
Turkey cakes
ReplyDelete...that is all.
Turkey cakes heard....
ReplyDeleteAwww, the poll is closed. Guess it's gonna be 50-50.
ReplyDelete-Lara
We'll let Lara be the tie breaker, I guess... We've never had a tie before so I'm kinda lost. We'll let Farmer Chele figure it out... (She's the brains behind this operation anyways.
